Dear Parents and Students,

We seem to be making some headway in the class and although there are still a few students who really don’t know how to behave themselves in a classroom setting, we will repeat those lessons until they are learned. Your positive encouragement and reminders at home really help them a lot and is much appreciated.

Experience class

We even managed to have an Experience class on Kente weaving from Ghana! Our Anansi story comes from Ghana and tells the why spiders weave or spin webs. We haven’t completed the ‘cloth’ yet, but it’s a step in the direction they should be moving towards: Completing a task without constant supervision.

Retests and Vocabulary tests

Please note that I will not be asking the students to retake the Midterm exams because I’d like to reteach some of the material. All the material taught and reviewed will be tested in the Final Exams in weeks 18 and 19.

Stories to be tested will include:

1. Anansi Goes Fishing

2. Rosa and Blanca

3. Dear Juno for READING Fluency only

All the vocabulary from Week 11 to Week 17 will be tested in the third monthly test. Use Spellingcity.com as well as the other resources I’ve provided, to help prepare your child for the exams.

 There will be a 20-word vocabulary test every Friday and students are expected to prepare for it. As there is a slight error in the communication book, we are reviewing all the vocabulary from week 11 as those are relevant to our story, Anansi Goes Fishing.

On Friday, we tested vocabulary from week 11 and most of the students seem to be able to recognize and understand the words and their meanings. 

    

 Please sign the test and PLEASE make sure that they complete the homework before signing off on it. They also need to complete their weekly sentences(corrections) in the writing book.

Test Scores

I've input the first test scores on Learnboost.com. You need to sign up and create a parent account so that you can access your child’s scores. This is a free service. As soon as I clarify the test scores of the Midterm exams, I will input them as well.

Please check your child’s communication book for the password on Monday.
